Beech
Welcome to Beech - Y1
Class Teacher - Miss K Warrilow
Welcome to Year 1 with Miss Warrilow and Mrs McEvoy. In Year 1, we will discover all kinds of wonderful things - from reading stories and learning numbers to creating art and exploring the world around us. Each day will bring something new and exciting, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you’ll learn and do.
Maths - We have been extending our knowledge in addition and subtraction in Beech using cubes, ten frames and base ten to help us.

Maths has been really fun. We have been learning about 2-D and 3-D shapes and making our own repetitive patterns.

English - We have been busy adding the ‘est’ and ‘ing’ suffix to our words ☺️ Children come up with some fantastic words independently.

We have been writing some super questions in English!

Science - What a fantastic time we have had, we have been experimenting with different objects around the classroom to see if they float or sink. We even had the opportunity to make our own boats and put them to the test!

History - Beech class have been working in teams to make castles and talk about the different features of a castle. Such fantastic results!

Art - We have been creating some fantastic prints inspired by artist Wassily Kandinsky.

Computing - Beech have been grouping objects together. Look how fantastic our independent work is!
