Class Teacher - Miss K Warrilow and Miss Baxter (HLTA)
Miss Warrilow has worked at West End for almost a year and is our new subject leader for RE and DT across school.
Welcome to Year 1! Here we will discover all kinds of wonderful things - from reading stories and learning numbers to creating art and exploring the world around us. Each day will bring something new and exciting, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you will learn and .
Beech 2025-2026
Beech 2024-2025
Beech children have been developing core strength and motor skills during our skateboarding session. We had so much fun, we definitely have some skateboarders in the making 🛹
Maths - Beech have been learning about halves and quarters. What better way to learn than with digestive biscuits.
English - We have been busy adding the ‘est’ and ‘ing’ suffix to our words ☺️ Children come up with some fantastic words independently.
We have been writing some super questions in English!
Science - What a fantastic time we have had, we have been experimenting with different objects around the classroom to see if they float or sink. We even had the opportunity to make our own boats and put them to the test!
Planting trees - We have had a lot of fun planting apple trees 🌳 🍎.
History - Beech have been learning about explorers Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. We discussed what supplies we would take with us on a ship and a rocket. We enjoyed some outdoor learning, listening to simple directions from our friends to make our way across the playground whilst blindfolded.
Art - We have been busy doing observational drawings of birds. Today we looked closely at feathers and experimented with continuous line drawing to produce are work. At the end of our topic we made birds out of playdough and feathers.
Computing - We have been looking at programs on the IPads and how we can give simple commands to make technology work.
D&T - Beech have had a wonderful time making healthy salads in design technology. We chopped cucumber and peeled carrots to add to our salad.
Sophie from SCARF came into school to talk to us about looking after our bodies and staying healthy.
